A Singapore-based developer is working on a four-hectare lot within the 37-hectare retirement home project called Amonsagana in Balamban town, northwestern Cebu.
Anita Blanco, Syntech Properties, Inc. senior sales consultant, said they are now working on a farm which will have organic herbs, ornamentals and fruit-bearing trees.
“Recently, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale announced they will be developing an ecotourism package in the highlands of Cebu and she asked if the farm can be open by April for tour groups,” Blanco said.
“We are now working to get it accredited. It will also have a hanging bridge and three caves that tourists will really enjoy as it will complement the landscape,” she added. Tetta Baad, Cebu City Tourism Commission chief, said they will be developing the Cebu Highlands Destination.
Eco-trails
She said they are coordinating with barangay officials for eco-trails that will lead to waterfalls and rivers in the area. There will also be a roadstop where tourists can enjoy the farm produce such as vegetables, sweet corn, organic lechon and flowers.
“It will have picnic and parking areas, and clean restrooms. It will happen this year,” Baad said.
Blanco said the Cebu provincial government is looking to offer ecotours in the west which will cover the hilly lands and their property.
“When the farm is ready, the tourist can pick and pay anything in the garden,” she said.
The developer recently launched the first phase of Amonsagana which offers 66 lots with lot sizes of 450 square meters to 670 square meters. “It’s a house and lot package with houses encompassing a floor area of 230 to 300 square meters,” Blanco said.
She said they are now vigorously promoting the project abroad particularly in Japan where there are many active retirees who are keen on looking for a property they can buy in Cebu.
