Vessel stranded at sea towed back to Cebu

A passenger vessel that encountered engine trouble in the middle of the sea between Bogo City, northern Cebu and Palompon town in Leyte was towed to safety by its sister ship last Saturday evening.

The 79 passengers of Super Shuttle Ferry10 arrived at the Pulangbato port in Bogo City at 10:50 p.m last Saturday.

Cmdr. Rodolfo Villajuan, commander of the Philippine Coast Guard-Cebu Station said the passenger vessel left Pulangbato port  at noon heading for Palompon, Leyte.

Villajuan said the ferry experienced engine trouble at 1:30 p.m and the incident was reported to them  late in the afternoon.
“It was unexpected because before the vessel left the port everything was fine,” he said.

The ship master, Captain Armando Resogento had yet to submit the marine protest in relation to the incident.

The vessel will undergo inspection by the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina).
