WITH the high demand for meat during Christmas, be careful about the sanitation quality of meat you buy.
Talisay City Councilor Richard Francis Aznar said a team led by the city veterinarian may conduct inspections any time.
“Dili gyud kalikayan nga naay makalusot nga hot meat pero amung gipaningkamutan nga masugpo ni,” Aznar said. (We are trying our best to prevent the entry of hot meat but we can’t avoid some of it getting through.)
He was referring to meat that is butchered outside of government accredited slaughterhouses.
Last October, authorities confiscated about 30 kilos of hot meat at the Tabunok Public Market days before the fiesta celebration.
A 34-YEAR-OLD man suspected of peddling drugs was arrested in a buy-bust operation in barangay Bacayan, Cebu City.
Eric Arinque accused the police of planting drugs on him and denied being a level 2 dealer, which is an operator capable of 200 grams of shabu a week
Insp. Jose Gesto, chief of the Talamban Police Station, said Arinque was arrested after he sold a pack of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer last Monday night.
Five sachets of white poweder were seized from his possession.
Arinque denied ownership of the illegal drugs.
Arinque said he and his friends were drinking when police arrived. His friends ran off.
The suspect said he was surprised when police told him that packs of shabu were found in his pocket.
TWO boys were wounded after they were stabbed by a group of teenagers in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City Tuesday night..
The victims were reportedly members of the youth gang Crips.
The two boys were walking by the barangay’s elementary school when they were confronted by five teenagers.
Police said a fistfight ensued and the boys fell on the ground with stab wounds.
They were later brought to the hospital.
Police said one of the attackers was identified as a certain Arning, a 22-year-old resident of barangay Quiot, Cebu City.
One of the victims told police that they had an argument with the same group last week.
POLICE arrested a man accused of robbing a couple at home in Moalboal town, southern Cebu.
Andres Delicano, 32, was arrested in a follow-up operation in Dumanjug town.
Anastacia Taladro, 52, and her hsuband Lucin , 52, identified Delicano as the one who tried to rob them.
Lucino said he and his wife were at home when he heard someone knocking on the door.
When he opened the door, he was shocked to see Delicano at the doorstep pointing a knife at him while declaring “kwarta ray ako (I only need money).”
The man had a cloth covering his face.
When Lucino fought back, the cloth mask fell and Delicano ran away.
The couple then reported the incident to the police.
