Ex-OFW wants Mandaue hospital doc, staff suspended for death of wife

The former overseas worker who lost his wife allegedly because of medical malpractice is asking for the suspension of the physician and staff of Mandaue City Hospital who attended to his wife during her confinement.

Cesar Coliflores and lawyer Inocencio dela Cerna went to the Mandaue City Hall and Mandaue City Hospital and handed a letter demanding a full and impartial investigation on the death of Jocelyn.

They met with Mandaue City Legal Officer Giovanni Tianero.

Tianero assured to give attention to their request to impose preventive suspension Dr. Maria Antoinette Alcantara and her medical staff but only after the  investigation.

Coliflores and dela Cerna also visited Mandaue City Hospital and met with Dr. Malou Espinoza, the Chief of Hospital.

Dela Cerna told reporters they gave Espinoza two letters, one is demanding the release of Jocelyn’s medical records to shed light on the controversy surrounding her sudden death and the second is asking for a full and impartial investigation and preventive suspension of Alcantara and her staff.

Dela Cerna said the medical records they were asking for include the medical abstract, discharge summary, medical certificate, final diagnosis, copies of laboratory works and results.

But Espinoza could not assure they can release all the records they are requesting.

But she said they will furnish the family a copy of the result of their investigation.
