Eight persons were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu cities over the weekend.

First to fall was Madie Parreño, 28, of sitio San Miguel, barangay Apas, Cebu City. Police moved in after a police decoy bought a small plastic sachet believed to contain shabu for P300.

A pouch with 12 small plastic sachets of suspected shabu worth P3,900 was confiscated from the suspect.

Alexander Macapaz, 21, and Roger Hiba, 28, were also arrested inside Parreño’s house. Police said the two men allegedly prepared drug paraphernalia to be used in their drug sessions.

In barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City police also arrested Daniel Laurenciana, 23, after a police decoy bought a sachet of suspected shabu for P200 from the suspect.

A brief chase ensued after the suspect tried to flee when police moved in. He was, however, cornered and arrested.

Police also confiscated at least 27 small plastic sachets of suspected shabu worth at least P100,000 and P1,010 cash believed to be proceeds from his illegal trade.

Yesterday, Mandaue police shot and wounded drug suspect Alexander Parilla after he tried to flee during a buy-bust operation in zone Paliya, barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

Parilla tried to stab a police decoy and then fled. Senior Insp. Hugo Rio, Intelligence branch chief of Mandaue City, and his men gave chase and shot Parilla in the leg.

The suspect was brought to a hospital for treatment. Four small sachets of suspected shabu, a .22 caliber revolver with 3 bullets and a 22-inch knife were confiscated from the suspect.

An hour later, the same police team conducted a buy-bust operation in a neighboring Zone Camote of barangay Paknaan and arrested Aldrin Molit, 30.

Police confiscated two small sachets of suspected shabu and the P200 marked money from the suspect.

In another anti-drug operation yesterday, Mandaue police also arrested Dwight Cabalida.

Recovered from the suspect were three small sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and P100 marked money.
