THE Rain or Shine Elasto Painters picked up a second straight win after they held off the GlobaPort Batang Pier, 104-98, yesterday in the 40th PBA Comissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Scoring another win after dropping their opening assignment against Talk ‘N Text, 86-89, Rain or Shine saw its 75-58 lead at the start of the fourth cut down to three but Paul Lee and Jonathan Uyloan hit critical baskets to save the Elasto Painters.

Lee finished with 25 points anchored on five triples and a perfect 10-for-10 shooting from the free-throw line.

Lee was backed by import Rick Jackson, who tallied 16 points, 18 rebounds and six assists.

Import CJ Leslie and Terrence Rome both scored 29 points but the Batang Pier still absorbed their second straight loss to drop to 1-2 (win-loss).

Firing three three-pointers, Romeo sparked a mighty run by GlobalPort as he unloaded 11 points in the final two minutes that saw his team moving within 88-91 with 1:32 left.

Rain or Shine heaved a huge sigh of relief when Uyloan beat the shotclock buzzer with an off-balanced triple.

Lee finished off the Batang Pier by going six-for-six from the charity stripe in the final minute of the contest.
