FOOD vendors will not be barred from doing business outside the premises of Cebu Mitsumi Inc. in barangay Sabang, Danao City but authorities will strictly impose health and sanitary measures to prevent a repeat of the diarrhea outbreak that mostly downed workers of the Japanese company.
According to Ramonette Durano Mahinay, information officer of the Danao City government, the local health office will continue conducting food safety seminars and inspect food stalls to ensure that food and drinks being sold are fit for human consumption and would not endanger public health.
“What the City Health Office (CHO) will look into this time is the random food sampling,” she told CDN.
City Hall, she said, will also be implementing a “no sanitary permit, no business permit” policy as part of the enhanced health and safety measures.
The regional office of the Department of Health on Friday declared a diarrhea outbreak at the Cebu Mitsumi Inc. area after 147 cases were reported among its workers.
