Bogo hospital needs more staff, equipment

THE Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City yesterday asked for additional staff and equipment to deal with the growing number of patients in the city,

In yesterday’s Provincial Board (PB) out-of-town session held in Bogo City, Dr. Zoraida Yurango, acting chief of the Cebu Provincial Hospital, said they need eight doctors and 12 nurses to complement their staff of seven doctors and 25 nurses.

She also said they need more electrocardiogram (ECG) machines, defibrillators and hospital beds.

The Cebu Provincial Hospital has 50 beds but they are serving more than 100 patients.

Dr. Cynthia Genosolango, acting Provincial Health Office chief, said they will hire more doctors for the hospital.

She said equipment will be provided when there are available funds.

Genosolango said the province is supporting 16 hospitals and they may not have enough funds to purchase new equipment.

Also during the session, barangay chairpersons of Cionoc, Anonang Sur and Cayang in Bogo City asked the provincial government to complete the rehabilitation of provincial roads in their areas.

Bogo City Mayor Celestino Martinez Jr. said during the session that the 5.8 kilometers of road from Anonang Sur to Lambusan, San Remegio is included in the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) six-year, P27.5 billion Philippine Rural Development project.
