WOMAN KILLED AFTER JAIL VISIT

A 44-YEAR-OLD woman was gunned down on a motorbike  soon after visiting the Cebu city jail where her live-in partner is detained.

Rodelyn Almario of barangay Sambag Uno  was riding a habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) in Kalunasan when she was shot twice in the back by an assailant aboard another motorcycle.

She had just visited her live-in partner, Allan Manal,  who is facing a case involving illegal drugs.

Investigators are looking into all angles including illegal drug connections to determine the motive of the killing, said Senior Insp. Elizandro Quijano, chief of the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office.

For security reasons, police withheld the name of the driver of the habal-habal that the victim rode.

Police said the habal-habal driver asked the woman to hold tight after he noticed two armed men on a motorcycle tailing them.

Police said it was in sitio Pang-pangpalanog when the backrider of the other motorcycle opened fire. The assailants had full-faced helmets on.

The woman fell off the motorcycle after she was hit.

Fearing for his safety, the habal-habal driver sped off.

Responding police brought the victim to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where she later died.
