San Fernando Enduro Challenge takes flight today

A TOTAL of 140 riders will start their quest for glory when the San Fernando Enduro Challenge 2015 takes off today in San Fernando town, southern Cebu.

February Canoy, head of the organizing body SF Trail Riders, said earlier that the event serves as a prelude to the main race, San Fernando XC Challenge 2015 cross country mountainbike competition slated May 10.

Leading those who already registered are Deny Mequiam, the third placer in the Enduro Pilipinas race in Ormoc City, and downhiller Donkie Sanchez, said co-head organizer Aaron Papas.

The San Fernando Enduro Lite Challenge is an Enduro Pilipinas-sanctioned race, which means points will be given to the winners. These points will be used for the national endurance race series.

CASH PRIZES

Winners will also win cash prizes with the Open Category champion taking home P4,000. In the Women’s and Beginner’s divisions, champions will pocket P3,000 each.

The distance of the route in this race is only around 20 kilometers.

The San Fernando Enduro Lite is divided into three stages and in the first two stages, which are both uphill courses, each participant is given 45 minutes to finish each stage.

The final stage, the downhill part,  is where the riders will be timed and the participant with the shortest time will be declared the winner.
