THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) urges the operators and drivers in Cebu and the rest of Central Visayas to adopt “pink jeepneys.”
The “pink jeepneys,” first launched in Manila last week, will specifically cater to senior citizens, women, children and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
LTFRB board member lawyer Antonio Enrile Inton Jr. said that “pink jeepneys” are very helpful especially during rush hours.
“This is also a way to show our men’s culture in the Philippines being gentlemen,” he told Cebu Daily News.
Inton said that in Manila there are already 20 units of “pink jeepneys” operating.
“This still depends on the operators and drivers if they would want to adopt it. Adopting “pink jeepneys” is voluntarily. We are encouraging to also have it in Cebu these are also helpful”,” Inton added.
Inton added that “pink jeepneys” still observe the same fare in case it will be adopted in Cebu and the rest of the region.
In case it will be adopted in Cebu, senior citizens and other forms of discounts will still be granted.
