Foundation adopts health center

SM Foundation recently turned over the newly-renovated San Remigio Rural Health Unit in San Remegio town, northern Cebu.

San Remigio was directly hit by supertyphoon “Yolanda,” leaving hundreds of its constituents homeles and damaging the town’s government facilities.

“We saw the damage of this health center after the supertyphoon hit your place. And we in the foundation felt that there is an urgent need to rehabilitate this government facility,” said Connie Angeles, executive director for Health and Medical Programs of SM Foundation.

Renovations of the health center include a nurses’ room, physician/administrator room, TB-Dots Room, records room, and a Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Center for children and the elderly.

The inauguration and blessing of the newly-renovated San Remigio Rural Health Unit was attended by Mayor Mariano Martinez, Vice Mayor Alfonso Pestolante, health officer Dr. Orleta Ursal, SM Foundation’s Connie Angeles, representatives from the Department of Health, SM Supermalls’ mall officials and employees.

SM Foundation will likewise take charge of the  health center’s maintenance. Every year, SM Foundation will visit the health center to see and evaluate the condition of the facilities.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to extend our appreciation to SM Foundation for choosing our town to be a beneficiary of your project”, said Mayor Martinez in his message.
