Another LPA seen outside PAR, says Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) was sighted outside of Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Friday.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA will not have a direct effect yet on the country.

“May panibagong low pressure area tayong minomonitor, nasa layo itong 1,935 kilometers silangan ng eastern Visayas. So makikita natin sa ating satellite imagery na malayo pa ito sa ating kalupaan at wala pa itong direktang epekto sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa,” Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said.

(A new low pressure area is being monitored, and it is 1,935 kilometers east of eastern Visayas. We can see in our satellite imagery that it is far from the mainland and it has no direct effect yet over any part of the country.)

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Goring (international name: Saola) is expected to intensify further into a severe tropical storm in the next 24 hours.

By Sunday, Pagasa predicts it will develop into a typhoon.
