Senators, congressmen, cabinet members and local leaders are expected to gather in Cebu tomorrow for the wedding of Cebu’s 6th District Rep. Luigi Quisumbing at the National Shrine of St. Joseph in Mandaue City.
Quisumbing, 35, will be marrying his high school crush Maricar Hofileña, 35, a native of Silay City, Negros Occidental based in Manila.
The nuptials, which follows a Mayan blue motif, and will be celebrated by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma at 3 p.m.
The list of sponsors includes Senate President Franklin Drilon, Budget Secretary Florencio Abad, Cabinet Secretary Rene Almendras, Teresita Gerbosa of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Sen. Grace Poe, Mandaue Mayor Jonas Cortes, Consolacion Mayor Theresa Alegado, and Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy.
President Benigno Aquino III earlier declined the honor of being a sponsor due to his single status.
Sen.Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Ilocos Gov. Imee Marcos and Sen. TJ Guingona are also guests at the wedding.
Cebu congressmen Eduardo Gullas, Wilfredo Caminero, Gwendolyn Garcia, Rodrigo Abellanosa, Benhur Salimbangon, Joseph Ace Durano, Aileen Radaza, and Raul Del Mar, Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale and all barangay captains of the 6th district of Cebu are also expected to attend the event.
About 600 guests are expected.
The wedding reception will be hel at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
Quisumbing said he and his bride have not yet decided where to spend their honeymoon because both are busy with their individual commitments.
Hofileña has a business in Manila while Quisumbing has matters to attend to in congress.
The two first met as teenagers.
They didn’t see each other again for 20 years as Quisumbing left for the United States to attend high school.
They met again in March last year at the wake of his grandmother in Manila.
They started dating and later decided to become life partners.
