VP Sara Duterte to celebrate National Heroes’ Day in Lapu-Lapu, police finalizing security measures

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – Vice-President Sara Duterte will celebrate National Heroes’ Day in Lapu-Lapu City on Monday, August 28, 2023.

In line with this, the Lapu-Lapu City police are now finalizing their security preparations to secure the vice president.

Duterte will join the city’s celebration of National Heroes’ Day at the Liberty Shrine in Barangay Mactan.

Police Colonel Elmer Lim, city director of LCPO, said that they have already conducted a coordination meeting with the city government and the security group of the vice president.

“We will be deploying personnel, like for example sa venue security, sa area security, management and control, mopalupad pod ta ug drone, and etc.,” Lim said.

On Sunday, Lim said that they will also be conducting a send-off ceremony for the personnel who will secure the activity.

“We will be ensuring a successful and peaceful National Heroes Day celebration,” he added.

The flag-raising ceremony on Monday will start at 7:00 a.m.

Aside from Duterte, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco and Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) Undersecretary Terence Calatrava will also join the activity, together with Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan and the city’s lone district representative Congresswoman Cindi King-Chan.       /rcg
