Cogon Pardo shooting: Illegal drugs behind killing of 21-year-old man?

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 21-year-old man was shot dead in Tagunol, Barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City on Sunday afternoon, August 27, 2023.

According to the report of Police Major Jeciree Basitao of Inayawan Police Station, the incident happened at about 4:15 p.m. on Sunday in the said place.

The report identified the victim as Jomar Encarnacion, 21 years old, a resident of Sitio Tabaska, Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City.

Basitao in her report said that the police personnel immediately responded to the said incident.

In their investigation, they identified through the eye witness’ account that Encarnacion was with his girlfriend at that time to get the money and believed to be illegal drugs from an unidentified male person.

Upon reaching the said place, Encarnacion met the suspect, identified as Juros Entera, a resident of Sitio, All Season, Barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City.

When Encarnacion saw Entera, he reportedly said, “Asa naman? Ambi na na bi! Ari lang diri.” (Where is it? Give that to me! Come here.)

After that, both of them went to the other corner of the place where Entera reportedly shot Encarnacion, hitting the right portion of the victim’s body.

The victim was still able to run despite being hit, however, he later fell on the road while the suspect immediately fled the crime scene.

When medical personnel responded to the incident, they found the victim with no vitals.

The scene of crime officers (SOCO) team also responded to process the crime as standard operating procedure of the Philippine National Police.

Follow up investigation and operation will be conducted by the investigator on case for the possible arrest of the suspect.
