Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, Deputy Director for Operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said that they were able to get CCTV that could possibly identify the gunman.
Mark Anthony Badayos, 26, of Barangay Pardo, Cebu City, and his companion, Niña Mejos Mahaffy, 42, from Badian town, Cebu, were killed while they were eating in a barbecue grill house in the barangay.
Rafter said that in order to accurately determine the perpetrator behind the shooting, they will be checking more CCTV footage around the barbecue grill house.
“We are gathering more [CCTV footage to support this],” Rafter said.
Rafter also said that witnesses came forward to relay what they saw, and their statements were helpful in the development of the case. They are looking for some persons whom they believe could have valuable information about what happened.
According to Rafter, the alleged suspect was clearly seen in a CCTV footage wearing a green jacket similar to that of the uniform of a service delivery rider.
“Nakita man gyud sa CCTV so amo na lang na inconfirm pud,” she said. (It was seen in the CCTV so we just have to confirm.)
Rafter also stated that they already have a lead as to the motive behind the crime but they are still conducting an investigation to verify this motive.
The alleged target, Badayos, was shot twice in the back of the head and twice on the chest. Mahaffy was hit by a stray bullet and later died in the hospital. Another unidentified companion was allegedly able to escape from the attack.
