In 2022, the Philippine semiconductor and electronics industry accounted for US$ 49.09 billion, a 6.88% annual growth from 2021. It was 62.27% of the US$ 78.84 billion in total Philippine commodity exports. The month-on-month electronics exports increased by 5.48% in June 2023 to US$ 4.25 billion, or 63.44% of the US$ 6.70 billion total Philippine exports, enabling the industry to retain its position as the country’s top commodity exporter and a significant contributor to the economic recovery.

While policy and regulatory challenges persist, SEIPI remains unwavering in its commitment to resolving other industry concerns. We are diligently addressing issues such as CONCERNS WITH BOC’s (Bureau of Customs) ETRACC implementation and Red-tagging of industry shipments. Through a collaborative approach that involves key government partners, including PEZA, the DTI’s Export Development Council (EDC), and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), SEIPI is making significant strides towards positive industry transformation and growth.

The organization continues to pursue its various initiatives to equip its future workforce with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive. Its Sector Skills Council (SSC) engages various stakeholders to address the skills gap in the industry. The Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Development (AMDev) program, a USAID-UNILAB Foundation Project, aims to enhance the Industry 4.0-readiness of future industry workers. Lastly, SEIPI’s own Affiliates Networking Committee (NWC), which is composed of public and private higher education institutions (HEIs), leads the organization’s industry-academe activities, including the planned collaborations with nationwide university organizations. Moreover, SEIPI’s VisMin and North Luzon regional chapters organize free trainings for the faculty and students of the organization’s academe members.

The country’s leading electronics event, the 18th Philippine Semiconductor & Electronics Convention and Exhibition (PSECE), will be held on October 25 – 27, 2023, at the World Trade Center, Pasay City, Metro Manila, with the theme “Positioning the Electronics Industry for the Next Industrial Revolution.” The PSECE will showcase the industry’s latest products, technologies, and innovative solutions through the exhibition. The exhibition features technical presentations, business matching, international pavilions of partners from China, Germany, Taiwan, and Singapore, Parts Localization Pavilion, Academe Pavilion, and a Job Fair.

The PSECE’s Convention consists of themed plenary sessions, Networking Committee (NWC) breakout sessions, an engineering technical symposium, and the Q4 General Membership Meeting (GMM)/ CEOs Forum. These various activities make the PSECE the most anticipated annual event of SEIPI.

Lastly, the industry growth projection for 2023 has been lowered from 5% to flat due to global, political, and economic factors.
