At least 16 new houses were recently turned over to typhoon Yolanda survivors in Daanbantayan town by the Gawad Kalinga, Cemex Philippines, Cemex Philippines Foundation and the municipality of Daanbantayan, northern Cebu.
The housing site in barangay Pajo, Daanbantayan town which is named “Unity Village,” was built under Cemex’s Build Unity rehabilitation program for the communities hit by typhoon Yolanda in Nov. 8, 2013.
Daanbantayan Mayor Augusto Corro and the beneficiaries thanked Cemex Philippines, Gawad Kalinga and the donors for their new homes.
Present during the turnover ceremony were Gawad Kalinga Cebu head Toby Florendo, Cemex Philippines’ president Pedro Palomino, regional vice president for strategic planning and marketing Paul Arcenas, director for corporate communications and public affairs Chito Maniago, senior legal manager Virginia Eala, corporate communications officer Erlinda Lizardo, corporate social responsibility officer Megi Garcia and community relations officer Marlito Cabigas.
Cemex also turned over a hematology analyzer and a chemical blood analyzer to Mayor Corro and the local health officials of Daanbantayan.
