CEBU CITY, Philippines — Good Shepherd-Toledo and Tuburan 360 Coffee defeated their respective foes in the ongoing Balamban Fiesta Cup 2023-Inter Commercial Basketball Tournament on Monday evening at the  Exasperanza Binghay Memorial Sports Complex in Balamban, midwest Cebu. 

Good Shepherd beat EGS-Talisay City, 89-71, while Tuburan edged K&L Marketing-Naga City, 95-88, to forge their semifinal showdown which will be played later tonight at the same venue.

The winning team between Good Shepherd and Tuburan will face the top-seed and unbeaten AC Troopers/Eversure Catmon for the championship match. 

The champion team of the tournament will take home P150,000, while P100,000 will go to the runners-up. 

In their win against EGS, Good Shepherd’s Joshua Dela Cerna erupted for a double-double game of 25 points with 15 rebounds, three assists, and one steal to lead his team.

Bigman Rhino Berame also had a double-double game of 18 points with 16 boards. Jojo Tangkay and Rabani Comendador chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively.

After enduring four lead changes and three deadlocks, Toledo took care of the final period by leading as many as 18 points, 89-71, until the final buzzer sounded. 

Meanwhile, Richmond Bersabal scored 12 points for EGS in their losing efforts while Brian Heruela, Michael Lawas and Justine Dacalos each scored eight points. 

On the other hand, Pacsoy Oropiano, Mike Parilla, and Jiesel Tarrosa’s trio put Tuburan on the winning side after each scored 14 points. 

Jimpaul Amistoso added 10 points in their big win over K&L Marketing.

Jayson Balabag spoiled his double-double game of 32 points with 10 rebounds for K&L Marketing, so as Ian Ortega’s 19 and Michael Diaz’s 14 points and 17 boards. 

Tuburan led as many as 22 points, 64-42 in the second half, but K&L showed some fight and managed to cut the lead into single digit. 

Still, Tuburan emerged victor after the game. 

K&L Marketing and EGS will battle for the consolation prize of the tournament after losing their respective crucial games.
