LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan has urged the contractor of the drainage project in Basak-Masulog to deploy more workers, especially during nighttime.
On Monday evening, September 19, Chan inspected the construction site where he found out that only a few workers were working on the project during the evening.
Chan said that it would be better if the contractor would assign more workers at night since fewer vehicles were traversing the road.

P96.42 M project
The project was awarded to First Grandeur Builders.
The drainage project cost P96.420 million and is expected to be completed in 300 calendar days from the start of its construction in April.
“Sa atong pagsusi, kini lang nga portion maoy gi-trabaho, but pipila ra ka tawo. But pipila ka portion ang way tawo. Kahibalo ko nga daghan og trabahante ang First Grandeur. Maong manawagan ko nga palihog, dungagi ug tawo,” Chan said.
(When we checked on the project, we saw only a portion being worked on, but there were only a few workers. But a few other portions of the project have no one working on them. We know First Grandeur has a lot of workers. That is why we are calling on them, to please, add more workers here.)

Contractor encounters difficulties — Mayor Chan
Chan, however, admitted that the contractor had experienced some difficulties in constructing the drainage.
“Dili gyud sayon ang pagtrabaho kay lawom ang iyahang giladmon sa drainage unya box culvert type ang gihimo nga drainage,” he said.
(It is a difficult job because the drainage is deep and the kind of drainage they are making is box culvert type.)
The mayor said that he already spoke to the contractor and they promised to deploy more workers during nighttime to fast-track the completion of the project.
