CEBU CITY, Philippines — Filipino Flyweight prospect Giemel “Pistolero” Magramo came up short in his non-title bout in Japan after losing to Latin-American Anthony Olascuaga in the undercard of Junto Nakatani-Argi Cortes world title bout at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan on Monday evening.
The more experienced 28-year-old Magramo, a boxer from Elorde Boxing Gym lost to a relatively rookie pro in Olascuaga, 24, via a stunning seventh-round technical knockout.

TKO in 7th round
Olascuaga scored a technical knockout with just three seconds left in the seventh round. The victory improved Olascuaga’s record to six wins with four knockouts and one loss.
The Los Angeles, California native has already fought for a world title earlier this year but faltered in the hands of Kenshiro Teraji for the WBA and WBC world light flyweight straps.
Meanwhile, the Filipino boxer dropped to a 28-4-0 (win-loss-draw) after last Monday evening’s loss. He has 23 knockouts on his resume.

Magramo gets tagged in 7th
During the bout, Magramo started off strong by banking on his jabs and occasional combinations that forced Olascuaga to defend.
However, Olascuaga was just feeling the waters in the first two rounds and became more aggressive in the ensuing rounds by pressuring Magramo in a toe-to-toe battle.
Olascuaga’s pressure and vicious combinations started to take its toll on the Filipino Boxer. The American boxer started pinning Magramo against the ropes more in the ensuing rounds, but the latter managed to answer every punch thrown at him.
It wasn’tuntil the last 10 seconds of the 7th round when Olascuaga landed a two-punch combo while pinning Magramo against the ropes.
Those punches rocked Magramo, allowing Olascuaga to land more vicious punches that staggered Magramo badly, forcing the referee to stop the bout just before the bell rang.
