Residents of Cebu wishing to go to Korea can secure a visa from the Consulate of the Republic of Korea which opens its office in Cebu City next week.

Their office at the 12th floor of the Chinabank Corporate Center at the Cebu Business Park in Cebu City will be inaugurated next Tuesday while operations start the following day.

Consul General Lee Ki-seog said the consular office will cover the entire Visayas area which include Cebu, Iloilo, Bohol and Boracay. These areas are mostly visited by Koreans.

“Our consular office is just small and we will be focusing on consular services,” Lee said.  The office will have three diplomats including Lee and six assistant staffers.

With 400,000 Korean visitors in Central Visayas this year and 25,000 Koreans residing here, Lee said there’s a need to establish the consular office to attend to their concerns.

The consular office can be reached through these numbers: (032) 232-1516 (1517, 1518 and 1519).
