The Ayala Business Club Cebu Inc. (ABCCI), together with Children’s Hour, Philippines Inc. and representatives from the International Montessori School (IMS) of Hong Kong trooped to barangay Hagnaya in San Remigio town, northern Cebu last March 5 to witness the groundbreaking for the two classrooms donated by the organization.
“Children’s Hour and ABCCI have been strong partners in helping us reach out to our beneficiaries in northern Cebu,” said Tippy Kintanar of Children’s Hour.
Last year, ABCCI distributed boxes of milk in tetra packs to the elementary students in Yolanda-affected towns as part of their Milk Drive campaign.
“Being here is a testament that the culture of giving and the desire to help is very much alive a year after typhoon Yolanda,” she said.
In January 2014, ABCCI organized a concert for a cause at The Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu, where proceeds were used for rebuilding initiatives.
“After we were here last year, we are fulfilling the promise that we made. We hope the facility that ABCCI and IMS will be providing will be maximized for the benefit of the children,” said Neil Yu, former president of ABCCI.
Chai Hall and Karen Bergen, the mothers of the IMS students who made a significant contribution for the construction of classrooms, were also in attendance .
Students from IMS Hong Kong were actively involved in raising funds for the rehabilitation efforts by organizing bake sales and a charity breakfast at their school.
Since last year, ABCCI has been turning over classrooms in neighboring northern towns. Aside from Hagnaya Elementary School, three classrooms were also constructed in Malbago and another in Medellin.
Construction of the second facility will begin within the month while the classroom donated by ABCCI will be turned over in April.
