CEBU CITY, Philippines— Are you ready to break a sweat and build some serious muscle?

In this episode of CDN SportsTalk, we dive into the dynamic world of CrossFit training.

Mike Yap is a certified CrossFit Gymnastics Specialist and a level two World Obstacle OCR Coach with a passion for calisthenics.

According to Yap, CrossFit is all about functional training that encompasses both strength and conditioning.

But it’s not just that – it’s a diverse blend of weightlifting, powerlifting, calisthenics, bodyweight exercises, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and circuit training. All these elements work together to get your body in good shape.

But being in good shape isn’t just about the physical appearance of the body. It is also about being functionally fit, which means you can easily go through your daily activities and make every task like a walk in the park, all thanks to gym training.

Yap said that one should just suck it up and go to a nearby gym and commit to doing this workout to attain their physical and mental goals.

“You have to have like a positive approach we don’t have to be strict at all,” he said when asked how he approaches newbies in Crossfit training.

“Bring yourself lang gyud sa gym,” he added.

It may seem like lifting heavy weights or doing high repetitions of the exercises are the biggest challenges a Crossfiter can face but, for Yap, it is something else.

“Consistency not a lot of people has that discipline to stay consistent,” he said.

CrossFit is causing quite a stir in Cebu, capturing the hearts of many.

So, are you ready to start on this fitness journey and discover the wonders of CrossFit?
