CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police are looking at robbery as the possible motive in the death of a 64-year-old taxi operator, who was found with a gunshot wound and stab wounds in different parts of his body.
According to the police report, the body of the dead victim was found inside his house early this morning of September 30, in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

Dead ‘robbery’ victim identified
Police identified the body as that of Virgillo Agodo Waskin, a widow and a taxi operator.
The police report revealed that the initial investigation conducted by police along with Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) personnel showed that the victim was long dead when found.
The victim was reportedly laying on his back and was under the state of rigor mortis with some injuries on his face, neck and forehead by the time he was examined by responding officers.
Rigor mortis is a postmortem change wherein the body stiffens due to the chemical change in the muscles experienced after death.

Why robbery is considered
The report also disclosed that the victim’s son, 39-year-old Virgel Albinda Waskin, informed police that a robbery possibly took place because some of their belongings were missing.
The son told officers that some cash with an estimated value of around P70,000 and P100,000 worth of assorted pieces of jewelry were found to be missing from their house after the incident.

Cops identify, pursue robber, killer of taxi operator
Police Major Angelito Valleser, chief of Labangon Police Station, said that they would be investigating a possible motive of robbery due to the circumstances of the crime.
Valleser said that they had already identified the perpetrator behind the killing and that they were conducting a manhunt operation to find and arrest the suspected assailant.
