CEBU CITY, Philippines — Six houses were razed by a nootime fire on Sunday, October 8, in Sitio Kitchen Paradise, Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.

This was according to Nagiel Bañacia, Lapu-Lapu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief, in an interview on Messenger with CDN Digital.

Three houses gutted

Bañacia also said that aside from the houses razed there were also three houses that were gutted.

He also said that the cause of the fire was still being investigated, but a resident in the area told those in the fire scene that she heard two explosions on the second floor of the house before the fire started.

He said with this it could have been due to electrical misuse, but this had yet to be verified.

Eight families displaced

The Lapu-Lapu CDRRMO chief also said tht the fire displaced eight families which were temporarily staying at the gymnasium in Barangay Pajo.

According to the Lapu-Lapu Fire District Office, the fire was reported at 11:42 a.m., today, October 8, and since it was a working fire, the first alarm was raised.

Fire out at 12:30 p.m.

The fire officer on duty at the Lapu-Lapu District Office also said that since the area had a lot of houses, all the firetrucks of the district office were deployed to the area.

The fire officer on duty also said that the fire was put under control at 12:14 p.m. and was declared fire out at 12:30 p.m.
