The vice mayor of San Francisco town, Camotes, Cebu died of cancer yesterday at the Perpetual Succour Hospital in Cebu City.
Vice Mayor Allan Arquillano, brother of former San Francisco Mayor Al Arquillano and incumbent San Francisco Mayor Aly Arquillano, had been confined at the hospital for stage 4 cancer since June last year.
The Provincial Board yesterday passed a resolution extending their condolences to the Arquillano family.
The vice mayor is survived by his wife and three children.
He served as municipal councilor for three terms, Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) president for one term and became vice mayor for nearly three terms.
The vice mayor helped San Francisco become a three-time grand champion in the E-Gwen Program, grand champion of Our Cebu-2014, according to PB Member Jude Thaddeus Sybico of Cebu’s 4th district where San Francisco is located.
Arquillano was also instrumental in helping the town earn a Seal of Good Housekeeping from the Department of Interior and Local Governments (DILG) and the United Nations Sasakawa Award
“We don’t know the exact type of cancer but it wasn’t lung or colon cancer,” said Sybico.
Sybico said Arquillano was diagnosed with cancer after having bouts with coughing and pneumonia.
