Chacon, trainer arrive in Bohol on Sunday for Kumong Bol-Anon 12

CEBU CITY, Philippines– Ronald Chacon, the hard-hitting Venezuelan will arrive on Sunday, October 29, 2023, in Bohol for his November 4 main event duel with hometown bet Regie Suganob in the main event of “Kumong Bol-Anon XII” at the Bohol Wisdom gymnasium in Tagbilaran City.

Chacon will be accompanied by his trainer and manager Orangel Rafael Ramos. They will arrive six days before fight night for acclimatization purposes since they will be flying 33 hours from Venezuela.

This will be Chacon’s first time to fight outside Venezuela as he challenges for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Global light flyweight title for 12 rounds.

The 32-year-old Chacon is on a two-fight winning streak having beaten compatriots Ezequiel Perez and David Rengel by knockouts.

Chacon holds a record of 30 wins with 22 knockouts, two defeats, and one draw.

Suganob will be his first Filipino opponent.

The Boholano will get to fight his fourth foreign opponent. Suganob has fought two Indonesians in Asyer Aluman and Andika D’Golden Boy where he won by a knockout and unanimous decision, respectively.

His most prominent foreign opponent was African Sivenathi Nontshinga whom he fought for the IBF world light flyweight title, and lost by unanimous decision last July.

The Chacon assignment  will be Suganob’s first fight since that loss. He has a pro record of 13 wins with four knockouts and one defeat.

Undercard fights

Featured in the undercard is the WBO Asia Pacific mini flyweight title showdown between Cebuano prospect Christian Balunan against Aditep Maungcharoen of Thailand.

Also, three-time world title challenger Casey “Lady Hawaiian Punch” Croft Morton of Hawaii faces Arisara Weesitwongsa of Thailand in a six-rounder showdown under the 116lbs division.

The rest of the fight card will have Patryk Rosiak of Poland versus Ralph David Cemino of Cebu, Gerwin Asilo vs. Jerry Pabila, Shane Gentallan vs. Johnro Taneo, Reymart Tagacanao vs. Jason Mopon, Sugarey Leonard Pores vs. Jayfe Mabale, and Richard Laspoña vs. Steven Lagrama.

The Chacon vs Suganob fight is part of the highly successful Kumong Bol-anon series.   /rcg
