Trailblazers barge into win column after mauling Wildkittens in Cesafi game

CEBU CITY, Philippines— The City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy (CBSAA) Trailblazers finally entered into the win column of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) high school basketball after routing the Cebu Institute of Technology-University, 81-58, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. 

The victory snapped the Trailblazers’ four-game losing skid in the game that happened at the Cebu Coliseum, tying their record with the Wildkittens, 1-4 (win-loss).

5 CBSAA in double figures

Five of CBSAA’s players registered double-digit scores in their lopsided win. June Brian Alipato led the Trailblazers’ offense with 17 points, while Vinz Rivera added 12, and Ryko Batuigas chipped in 11 markers. 

Franz Albao and Kyle Barrieta each had 10 markers for the Trailblazers.

How Wildkittens lost

The Wildkittens’ Nathaniel Yurag scored 16, while Thiomer Atibula tallied 12 points in their losing efforts. 

The Trailblazers were leading by double digits after the opening period, 22-11, but the Wildkittens responded with a 19-9 run to cut the lead to just one, 30-31, heading into halftime.

However, in the third period, the Trailblazers restored order with a seven-point cushion, 54-47. Their lead ballooned to 14, 71-57, midway in the final period, and further stretched it to 23 in the end game, 81-58.
