No permit for South Bus Terminal

LACK of an occupancy  permit has prevented the management of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) to renovate the facility to improve ventilation.

In yesterday’s  ‘Kapistorya sa Kapitolyo’, Ramon Dumayac Jr., operations manager of the terminal, said plans to  upgrade its facilities can’t proceed because the Cebu provincial government failed to a secure an  occupancy permit from City

Hall. The request for permit, he said had been made years ago.

Heavy duty air conditioning units can’t be installed in the terminal on N. Bacalso Avenue without upgrading its electrical system, said Dumayac.

The Visayan Electric Company (VECO) will not upgrade the electrical system unless the terminal is issued an occupancy permit.

Dumayac said that ever since he took over as  CSBT operations manager on  March 9, he wanted to install  air conditioning units in the eight waiting lounges. He said they are working to secure the permit from the Cebu city government.

Jones Siegfred Sepe, head of the Provincial General Services Office, said he was not aware of the lack of an occupancy permit for the terminal.

“Maybe Dumayac can look into it and if there’s any step that he needs to do, he is the operations manager. He should be the one to take  necessary action if there’s a need to get the permit,” he said.
