P58-M CCTVs, other equipment for SRP

Cebu City Hall’s South Road Properties Management Office (SRP-MO) is asking for P58.4-million worth of heavy equipment and security cameras.

“With the growing demands at the SRP, we feel that these items are of vital importance in the day-to-day operations as well as the upkeep of the various facilities contained therein and the maintenance of security and peace and order,” SRP Executive Assistant II Sheldon Vincent Kintanar stated in a letter to Mayor Michael Rama.

These equipment include a medium-sized bulldozer (P6.5 million), a tractor with blade beam (P4.8 million), a mini dump truck (P4.8 million), a boom truck (P4 million), a skid loader (P3.5 million), a water tanker (P3 million) and two patrol cars (P1.9 million).

They also need closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras worth P3.5 million, Global Positioning System at P3.5 million, 25 handheld radios worth P2 million and 25 fire extinguishers worth P1.1 million.

The funds for the purchase of the equipment as well as other office supplies are to be taken from lump sum appropriations under the capital outlay for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013.

City Treasurer Diwa Cuevas already issued a Certificate of Availability of Funds for the purchase.

During their regular session last week, Councilors Dave Tumulak and Nendell Hanz Abella sponsored a resolution authorizing the purchase.

“Certain machineries and equipment have been programmed for acquisition during prior years 2011, 2012 and 2013. Some of the machineries and equipment remained unpurchased while the funds for the purpose are placed under continuing appropriation for capital outlay,” read the councilors’ resolution.

The resolution and the request were forwarded for review to the committee on budget and finance headed by Councilor Margarita Osmeña.
