A 39-year-old man was arrested during the graduation of his three daughters in Caputatan Norte Elementary School in Medellin, northern Cebu last Sunday night.
Danilo Dumaguit, a sugarcane laborer was arrested by police due to a standing arrest warrant dated March 20, 2006 on a murder charge.
PO1 Rosano Queddeng of Medellin Police said Dumaguit attended the graduation of his daughter and his other girls in the same school at the time of the arrest.
“Pagkakita sa atong kapulisan niya, mura ra siyag normal nga nagtan-aw sa pagsayaw sa iyang grade six nga anak, ingon pa niya wa daw siya nagtago-tago kay wala siya’y sala (When the police saw him he looked normal seeing his daughter dance. He said he wasn’t hiding, that he didn’t commit the crime),” he told Cebu Daily News.
Dumaguit said he was disappointed for having to cut short his attendance at the graduation ceremony as he surrendered to the police. The ceremony started at 2 p.m. and his three children cried as he was accompanied by police.
Queddeng said Dumaguit mentioned about an affidavit of desistance regarding the murder case, where relatives of the victim he allegedly murdered agreed to a settlement instead of filing a case.
