Ex-con yields ‘shabu’ worth P2M

An ex-convict was arrested with packs of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P2 million in a buy-bust operation in barangay Calamba, Cebu City last night.

Arman Jaca, 25, was arrested by operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (CAIDSOFT) after he allegedly sold a pack of shabu worth P2,000 to a poseur-buyer past 6 p.m. on A. Lopez Street in sitio Mahayahay.

Police said the man resisted arrest, prompting the arresting team to seek reinforcement from the Special Weapons and Tactics team.

Police said they seized three small packs and seven big packs believed to contain shabu worth P2 million.

Police said the man had been monitored for a week due to reports that he was involved in selling illegal drugs.

The suspect was arrested for drugs charges and later convicted in 2006. He was released from jail in 2013 after serving his prison term.

Some neighbors complained there were times the man would fire his gun indiscriminately.

The man denied the allegations against him.

He said the packs of shabu were not taken from his possession.

He said he was in the area to pawn his watch so he could buy milk for his child when police arrested him.

Police said they suspect that the man got his supply of illegal drugs from a former cellmate of the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
