CEBU CITY, Philippines— “Ma’am Chief” lead star Melai Cantiveros-Francisco has bagged the “Best Actor Award” from the prestigious Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023 held at the Philippine Arena Thursday night.
Melai starred in the film “Ma’am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul,” which was filmed in South Korea.
To recall, Melai, known as the ‘Kamsamii’ mother, took her followers on a delightful trip to South Korea in July while filming the acclaimed movie. Accompanied by her entire family, they entertained their audience with amusing antics on social media.
Melai was among the several Filipino artists who were invited to the star-studded AAA and the recipients of the Best Actor Award.
Before receiving her award, the comedian had a short banter with the host about her feelings attending the awards night.
“Attending to AAA is a very honor. I feel like I am a first honor, a valedictorian in attending to AAA,” she said, drawing laughs from the crowd.
This achievement adds to Melai’s growing list of accolades, showcasing her dedication and success in the international film scene.
The audience erupted in laughter as Melai delivered a humorous response during the banter.
Following the light-hearted exchange, Melai further delivered a comedic acceptance speech for the award on stage.
“If someone question why I have award, don’t worry, I question too. Because I just receive award all of my life from my mother and father everytime they’re angry to me . But tonight… my heart is very kuan… the best. I think because of God moves in mysterious ways, and it is because of the PULP studio,” she said.
She then proceeded to thank all the people behind this success, including her directors, co-actors, producers, and the entire production staff.
“To my producer that I cannot believe what the food that they eat why they choose me,” she added.
