Strong start for Leylam FC

Leylam FC started its campaign on a high note as it toppled Hiroshi FC, 3-0, in the premier men’s open of the 17th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Leylam, a qualifier to the F5WC World Championships in Dubai and last year’s men’s open runner-up, started its scoring spree in the the second half and never looked back en route to the lopsided victory.

In the ninth minute of the second half, Michael Pacite scored the team’s first goal after gaining  possession from a lose ball. Just a minute after, Julian Miranda scored on a coast-to-coast goal after intercepting the ball from a Hiroshi booter. Nigerian Imran Hussain sealed the victory with a goal in the 64th minute.

In the other men’s open match, Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) ERCO Bro humiliated Avengers FC, 7-2.

DBTC ERCO Bro’s scorers were Ritchie Moscoso, Christian Nacion, African Fred Bobby, Marjun Capol (2), Jason Calunsag and Jay Alipio.

Avengers FC’s players Viceroy Sumalpong and Cris Lumaad were the scorers for their team.

In another game, ERCO BRO GAU edged out Capuge FC, 3-0.

Nigerians’ Ene Azibataram Famous and Meleke Stephane scored goals in the 39th and 31st minute, respectively, while Cebuano Jade Paghubasan chipped in one goal in the 28th minute to complete the rout.

Don Bosco United FC’s Eduardo Buglosa and Graywane Abello each netted one goal to lift the team past FC Inter-Cebu Liloan, 2-0.

FC Inter-Cebu Liloan, which is on a two-game win streak, suffered its first loss.

In the inter-company division held at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) in Canduman, Mandaue City , Mizuki FC won over Cebu Shelin Agro FC, 3-0 while defending champions ERCO FC easily beat Titans FC, 6-0.

Leylam FC and Chowtime capped off their showdown with a 2-2 draw while San Miguel FC defeated Architects United, 5-0.

In the BPO men’s division, Timex FC won over Convergys FC, 1-0, while Convergys routed United Health Group, 1-0, and ePerformax won over Lexmark via default in the distaff side.
