Acting Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella reminded all city officials and City Hall employees to file their statement of assets, liabilities and net worth on or before April 30 this year.
Labella said their SALN should reflect their financial status as of December 31 last year.
Elective officials from the mayor, vice mayor to the councilors should file their SALN to the Ombudsman-Visayas. City Hall employees should submit their SALN to the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) or the City Administrator’s Office.
Labella said administrative and criminal cases will be filed against those unable to submit their SALN on the deadline.
Under Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, penalties include imprisonment of five years or a P5,000 fine or both at the court’s discretion.
“There is also an accessory penalty of perpetual disqualification to hold public office. This is why it’s important for us officials and employees to submit our SALN on time,” Labella told reporters.
