Waterfront to Waterfront Run: 5,000 runners expected to join Feb. race

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino will roll its red carpet for the inaugural “Waterfront to Waterfront Run 2024” slated on February 11, 2024. 

The footrace will start and finish at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Lahug. 

Its longest distance is the 32-kilometers route that will traverse the major thoroughfares of Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City.

True to its name, the running event will pass through the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino in Lapu-Lapu City. 

Why it is a unique run

According to race coordinator and marketing CEO of TNR Events, Theresa Conson, said during a presser that the hotel’s brand alone would make it unique. 

“The difference among other runs in Cebu is Waterfront is its brand. Waterfront is Waterfront, that statement alone that makes this run unique,” said Conson during the presser on Wednesday, December 20, at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. 

She was joined by race director Joel Juarez of Coco Running. Also present were the hotel’s top brass in Christine Luague (sales director), Sofia D’Lonson (convention & events director), and Bryan Lasala (resident manager).

Collaborative spirit

For Lasala, this running event holds a significance to Waterfront’s brand that symbolizes their collaborative spirit. 

“It’s the first of its kind in Cebu, it will pass through Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu’s bustling streets. This run holds significance, it does not just show unity, but also symbolizes the collaborative spirit of Waterfront Hotels and Casinos family. Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino wants to encapsulate the fostering healthy and active community,” said Lasala. 

Over 5,000 runners are expected to answer the starting gun. The other distances include a 21k, 10k, 5k, and 3k. Freebies such as finishers’ shirts and medals will be given out to the participants.

Beneficiaries

Proceeds of this running event will benefit the Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko Foundation and the AFP’s Joint Training Program Reserve Force.

Prizes await the winning runners, but it will be announced at a later date.
