A man wanted for rape for almost eight years was arrested by police in a mall in Cebu.
He was working as a supervisor of the janitorial service.
Vincent Mata, 30, is in the list of the top 10 most wanted persons of Zamboanga del Sur.
Operatives of Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) who arrested him last Monday had an arrest warrant for three counts of rape.
Mata did not resist arrest.
PIB chief Supt. Rodolfo Albotra Jr. told reporters yesterday that Mata might have secured clearances in Cebu which he used for his employment.
He said if the employer only required local clearances, these would not reveal his police record from his birth place or previous residence.
“It would be better to ask national clearances from an employee,” said Albotra.
Mata denied the rape charge and said he was falsely accused of raping a relative.
