A five-year-old road right-of-way problem in Badian town, southwest Cebu was resolved in a whole-day discussion between provincial government officials, a resort owner and barangay residents.
Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said the Badian Resort and Spa located on an island in barangay Lambug asked for help because their guests would find it difficult passing through the access road leading to the resort’s parking area.
“Badian Island Resort sent a letter of complaint to the governor and me stating that they might close down because they have a problem with the road right of way,” she told reporters yesterday.
She said the road leading to the resort parking area is owned by the barangay.
A basketball court was built in the area and the road would often be closed.
“There was a time when (the barangay would) collect P900 (for tourists to pass through). But the barangay chairman said it had been stopped,” Magpale said.
During the dialogue, the resort owner pledged to give money to purchase a lot where the basketball court can be transferred in exchange for using the access road.
Magpale said the Cebu provincial government will shoulder the expenses of the construction of the new basketball court.
