ONE of the four policemen accused of mauling a man in downtown Cebu City was relieved from his post.

PO3 Antonio Tejero of the Carbon Police Station was ordered relieved by Supt. Prudencio Bañas, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

PO3 Tejero, PO3 Arvin Hernandez, PO3 Jonas Abe Catubig and PO3 Jerome Soque are under investigation for the April 9 commotion outside a bar on Sanciangko Street where they were accused of mauling brothers Von Rovi and Jasper Alfeche.

Bañas said he would sack Chief Insp. Noel Lomente, chief of the Carbon police, if he fails to identify the civilian who took  part in the mauling.

Lomente said the civilian has been  identified as a member of the Barangay Intelligence Network.

The Alfeches figured in an argument  in a videoke bar where they confronted a group of men who had harassed the sister of Jasper and Von Rovi.

Tejero and fellow policemen arrived rushed to the bar after receiving a trouble alarm.  The policemen ended up arguing with the father of the Alfeche siblings.

Jasper was arrested for  disrespecting the responding policemen.  The Alfeches iled a complaint against the four policemen before the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas.

Video footage of the alleged incident uploaded on Facebook showed a man being kicked. In another video, two men, believed to be Von Rovi and his father Rolando, were seen walking away from the bar when a man chased them, and slapped the elder Alfeche in the nape.

The Alfeches presented the video footage of the mauling when they filed a complaint.
