Medellin Triathlon Cup comes off the wraps

Some 100 triathletes test their will and strength as the Funtastic Medellin Triathlon Cup 2015 gets underway today in Medellin town, northern Cebu.

The race will  feature a grueling 1.6-kilometer swim, 60-km bike and 15-km run in the standard distance comprising eight age-groups.

Leading the list of strong contenders are couple Noy and Amale Jopson.

Amale will be challenged by May Anne Mares and Denise Abcede in the distaff side, while Noy will contended with Mohammad Sherwin Managuil, Donray Noval and Jorry Ycong in the men’s competition.

The race is part of the town’s annual fiesta celebration. The race will start and end at the Alpine Wharf in Kawit, Medellin.

Aside from the standard distance, today’s event will also feature the sprint, super sprint and relay categories. The top three finishers in both male and female divisions will receive cash prizes while the rest of the top three in each age group will bring home medals.

The race will start at 5:30 a.m.
