Holiday sought for Kaplag

The Cebu City Council is requesting President Aquino to declare a special non-working holiday in Cebu for April 28, 2015, the 450th anniversary of the finding of the image of the Sto. Niño de Cebu.

This would allow Cebuanos to participate in the cultural and historical activities lined up for the 450th Kaplag, said Councilor Hanz Abella.

Fr. Harold Rentoria of the Augustinian order, ,joined the meeting of the Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission (CHAC) meeting last Monday. He discussed the   request for a holiday  declaration.

On April 28, a Tuesday,  a 3 p.m. solemn foot procession will be followed by a  5:30 p.m. pontifical mass to be celebrated by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma.   Sinulog street dancing will follow at 7 p.m.
