KEEPING their feet on the gas pedal, the scorching Batch 1999-BMC Hospital Systems/ Hainanese Delights zoomed to its seventh straight win via a 91-84 spanking of Batch 1986/90s/2000s in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
Batch ’99 remained as the only team left unbeaten in the 14-team field and has now won its last 26 games dating back to the previous where it won all of its 19 games en route to winning the crown.
Reliable big man Mark Bukiron churned out another monster performance for Batch ’99 after finishing with 41 points and nine rebounds. Earn Saguindel also logged a solid all-around game with 28 markers, nine assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Albert Uy scored 12, Ruben Yap Jr. scored just six points but he had eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals.
Aljhune Areja scored 28 markers, Cris Jake Alvez donated 16, Ranier Chu added 14 and Randy Sypongco had 13 for Batch 1986/90s/2000s, which absorbed its third loss in eight games.
In the other game, Batch 1995-La Nueva Pharmacy posted its sixth victory in eight outings by downing Batch 1980s/90s/2011-Koi Herbal, 75-63.
Donald Anthony Ting paced the winning team with 22 points. Archie Gue pitched in 15 points, Dean Dy Teves contributed 11, while Edison Ho and Erwin Kenneth Ong chipped in 10 apiece.
Sammy Sia registered 17 points, eight rbeounds and one assist, Raymond Sypongco and Paul Cabellon each had 14 in Batch 1980s/90s/2011’s third loss in eight games.
