CEBU CITY, Philippines – A centenarian from Barangay Kasambagan in Cebu City, is the latest recipient of a ₱100,000 gift check from Cebu City for reaching the milestone.
Lola Ma. Isabel M. Garcia, expressed appreciation and gratitude as she received a ₱100,000 gift cheque and a Plaque of Recognition from the Cebu City Council on Thursday, February 1.
A centenarian is an individual who reached the age of 100.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, together with Vicente Esmeña, chairperson of the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and Anne Suico, chairperson of the Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS), personally handed the gift cheque to Garcia.
Even at the age of 101, Lola Isabel remains sharp and keen of hearing. Hence, she still enjoys reading and exploring various places with her family.
Lola Isabel shared how the love of God has given her continuous guidance and blessings.
“God loves me and He is giving me all the good things that I have by His blessings,” she said, according to Cebu City – News and Information.

When Lola was asked about her secret to reaching this peak of advanced age, she simply said that she has no food restrictions except for “dishes with liver”.
The centenarian also shared how she loves to go for walks, so when her family goes trips, she would go with them.
November 19 marks the anticipated celebration of her 102nd birthday.
Republic Act No. 10868 honors and granting additional benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians.
