CEBU CITY, Philippines—- The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars and the University of San Carlos (USC) Lady Warriors aim to sweep their Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) Best-of-Three volleyball tournament finals series today, February 3, at the USC Main Campus gymnasium.

The USJ-R Jaguars men’s volleyball team and the USC Lady Warriors took the lead in Game 1 last Sunday, January 28, against their respective opponents.

The Jaguars, led by head coach Roldan Potot, defeated the host team, USC Warriors, in three dominating sets, 25-20, 25-16, and 25-16, with Erico Blaza and Charlie Enojo excelling on both ends of the court.

Blaza led the Jaguars with consecutive aces, while Enojo was virtually unstoppable on the attacking side, leaving USC hapless in their Game 1 showdown.

Still, the Warriors, under the guidance of head coach Grace Antigua, have a chance to redeem themselves and force a Game 3 in today’s men’s volleyball tournament showdown.

Despite her team’s struggles in the men’s category, Antigua’s women’s squad secured Game 1 last Sunday with a three-set victory over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Lady Panthers, beating them 25-23, 25-21, and 25-21.

Yolly Rizarri’s Lady Panthers and Antigua’s Lady Warriors will play first in today’s Game 2 of the men’s and women’s volleyball finals at 1:30 p.m.
