Kadaugan Street Party

3-kilometer road closure today

SOME roads will be closed to vehicles  today and tomorrow in Lapu-Lapu City for the Kadaugan Street Party, which local leaders are billing as  the biggest celebration in Cebu province, next to the Sinulog.

Organizers have set up   stalls and banners along the three-kilometer venue for the street party that starts at the foot of the  Marcelo Fernan Bridge to  the Hoops Dome.

Roads will be cleared on  Monday dawn, when  stalls and platforms will be dismantled. Traffic flow  in  alternative roads   will be monitored by traffic enforcers.

The Lapu-Lapu City Council suspended for 10 days the implementation of an ordinance penalizing drunk conduct  until the street party is over.

Personnel from the Philippine Air Force (PAF), PNP Maritime, Phil. Navy and the Cebu Provincial Police Office will secure visitors.

Councilor Harry Don Radaza said the event drew a crowd of half a million last year and they expect more people this year.

Other activities include an indoor sports clinic, basketball contests, wake boarding, a Kadaugan Color Beer Run, Fitness Dance Marathon, Zumba,  sound and lights competition, a Cosplay competition, a parade of electric floats and  higantes, and a car and motorcycle show.
