CV booters in tough group in Palaro tilt

THE Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association (CVIRAA) secondary football team, manned mostly by players from the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) is bracketed alongside tough teams in the Palarong Pambansa which opens next week in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
According to Cebu Football Association (CFA) Vice President Rico Navarro, CVIRAA is in group C along with title favorite Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVIRAA), the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA), ARMM and the vaunted Calabarzon squad manned by the San Beda College booters.
Defending champion MIMAROPA is in Group A along with CARAGA, Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) and BRAA.
CVIRAA is composed of Philip Anthony Fernandez, Matthew Troy Pardis, Leo Maquiling, Jullian Homecillo, Joshua Famador, Bertram Musni, Jose Mari Kwan, Baris Tasci, Marcus Congmon, Marc Joshua Villordon and Raymond Corro of SHS-AdC. They will be joined by Canduman National High School’s  Joseph Anthony Caderao, Paul David Carizon, Don Bosco Technology Center’s (DBTC) Vincent Lovitos and Look National High School’s Steven Patalinghug.
CVIRAA/Region VII will play its first match on May 6 against WVIRAA followed by NMRAA.
The Ceevies won bronze last year in Santa Cruz, Laguna while the region’s elementary division squad manned by DBTC players captured the gold medal.
