CHALK UP another win for the Gilas Cadets after they ripped Malaysia apart, 104-42, in the 2015 Southeast Asian Basketball Association Championships yesterday at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
The victory was the team’s third in a row though it wasn’t until the second period when they started to pull away after leading by just nine, 23-14, after the opening stanza.
A 34-15 blast set the tone for the rest of the game for the Gilas as they held a 57-29 bulge at halftime and cruised to an easy victory.
The win was yet another show of force for the Filipinos, who had previously humiliated Laos, 124-37, and then Indonesia, 92-36.
Up next for the Gilas will be Brunei who they face off against today as they continue their bid to snag one of the three berths to the Fiba Asia Championships that are at stake in this competition.
Reigning UAAP MVP Kiefer Ravena led the Gilas with 15 markers while Mac Belo and Russell Escoto added 14 points apiece. Bobby Ray Parks and Scottie Thompson also had 13 each while big man Troy Rosario added 10.
