AFTER getting a taste of victory last time out, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars got brought back down to earth by the Perpetual Help Altas in a 59-77 loss in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Jaguars, playing in their fourth game in six games, started out flat and just could not get the same kind of rhythm like in their 85-74 victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College last Friday.
Down 12-20 after the opening canto, the Jaguars steadily went downhill until the final buzzer as their win-loss record fell to 1-3.
Veteran guard James Regalado and Iron Suano were the lone bright spots for USJ-R with 11 points each. Cesafi Mythical Five member Kevin Villafranca struggled to hit the mark and made just three of his 13 attempts from the field, finishing with a mere six points.
Akhuetie Bright had 19 points, 14 rebounds and five assists for the Altas, who were playing minus NCAA MVP Scottie Thompson. Long-time court general Chris Elopre pitched in 15 markers. Gabriel Dalangon and G-Jay Ylagan also added a dozen apiece for the Altas.
